Discover Scuba Diving in Komodo

For Beginners

Your first breath underwater during your Discover Scuba Diving experience is a moment you will never forget. See the incredible reef and creatures in the Komodo National Park first hand with the personal guidance of a PADI Scuba Instructor.

Explore a top dive destination

Learn the basics and swim with several different species of turtles, loads of tropical fish and sometimes even manta rays.

The Discover Scuba Diving program (also known as DSD for short) is the perfect introduction to the world of diving. Also, if you are interested in the Open Water Course, your DSD experience can count as dive 1 in your certification course!

How it works at Azul Komodo

Start the day with breakfast on our beautiful wooden boat where your PADI scuba instructor will sit down with you to start the briefing. They will explain how to use your scuba equipment as well as basic dive theory and safety techniques. After, your scuba instructor will review the skills that you complete underwater. Finally, you will learn about the creatures in Komodo and important information about how we can help keep the reef healthy.

The first dive starts in very shallow water with skill practice. After skill practice, your PADI Dive Instructor will guide you through the dive site, supervising your safety. During this portion of your dive, your instructor will point out different creatures in the area. You will feel weightless as you swim over the colorful reef.

For the second dive, you will explore a different dive site and this time, you don’t have to practice any skills, just descend and enjoy the sights!
